Parade Marshals

2025

Our 2025 Grand Marshal is Javier Correa-Vega.

Javier Correa-Vega, M.S., proudly serves as the Language Access Coordinator for the City of

Winston-Salem’s Human Relations. In this role, he leads the city’s Hispanic outreach and

communications efforts, provides Spanish interpretation and translation, and builds community partnerships that promote inclusion and access for all residents. He is also the host of Building Bridges, the City’s bilingual TV show and newsletter, and has been recognized for spearheading the city’s first Spanish-language press conference and launching the Language Access Plan and The Language Other Than English (LOTE) Emergency Plan for the City of Winston Salem and  Forsyth County.

 

With a professional background that spans education, healthcare, transportation, and community engagement, Javier is dedicated to creating opportunities for families and ensuring every voice is heard. In 2023, he was appointed to the NC Governor’s Advisory Council on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, where he continues his commitment to equity and representation across North Carolina.

 

Outside of his professional work, Javier enjoys spending time with his family, traveling,

celebrating culture, uplifting youth, and bringing people together. His leadership, service, and joyful spirit embody the heart of Winston-Salem.

Our 2025 Deputy Marshal is Asst. Chief Wilson S. Weaver II.

Assistant Police Chief Wilson S. Weaver II started his law enforcement career with the Winston-Salem Police Department in July 1984 and retired in January 2025 

after a 40 year career.   

 

A native of Winston-Salem Weaver retired commanding  the Investigative Services Bureau, which contains all of the Department’s Detectives and Forensic Services Technicians.  Prior to that he commanded the Field Services Bureau, with a professional specialty centered around the Patrol 

Division and the Special Operations Division, which contains specialized units such as the SWAT Team, Bomb Squad, DWI Task Force, Traffic Enforcement Unit (Motorcycles) and K9 unit.  

 

Weaver said that his professional specialty was the response to, mitigation of and recovery from all hazards, in all weather conditions. Weaver is a recipient of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy Award, as well as a Police Executive Research Forum Certificate from the Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University.  

 

As such, Weaver trained with law enforcement professionals from across the United States.  He holds an Associate in Applied Science in Law Enforcement 

Technology from Forsyth Technical Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Gardner-Webb University, and a Master of Public 

Administration from Appalachian State University.
